Articling Student

Terms: Full-time, 12 month term position (37.5 hours per week)

Salary Range: $70,000 per annum plus benefits, professional dues and opportunities for continuing professional development

Start Date: May 2026 (ideal start)

Location: Vancouver, BC (Hybrid)

Closing Date: 9:00 am on Monday, July 14, 2025

Under the supervision of their principal, the articling student at Rise will work directly on client files. The articling student’s work will focus on files from the virtual legal clinic, as well as conducting some hearings and applications. While the majority of the work will be in the area of family law, there may also be opportunities to work on immigration files.

We welcome applications from all students who will have completed law school by May 2026. We have a strong preference for hiring an applicant who has completed Rise Women's Legal Centre’s clinical externship or who will have completed the externship before May 2026.

Staff Lawyer (Centralized Legal Supervision)

Terms: Full-time, permanent (37.5 hours per week)

Salary Range: $100,000 – 105,000 per annum plus benefits, professional dues and opportunities for continuing professional development

Start Date: September 2025

Location: Vancouver, BC (Remote)

The Staff Lawyer (CLS) will directly support family law advocates who are funded by the Law Foundation of BC by providing regular legal supervision on client files. The Staff Lawyer (CLS) will help to provide direction and structure to the CLS program and help advise the Law Foundation of BC on issues such as the level of supervision and mentorship needed by advocates, as well as advising on and developing training.

Board Member (Volunteer Position)

Terms: Minimum 2-year term (2025-2027), with a maximum term of eight (8) years

Election Date: September 2025

Rise Women’s Legal Centre (Rise) is seeking two (2) engaged volunteers to serve on its Board of Directors for a minimum 2-year term (2025-2027), with a maximum term of eight (8) years. Our current priorities, given the current make up of the Board, is for candidates with expertise in Human Resource Management and/or Employment Law. Rise is governed by its Board of Directors, members of the community with a wide range of experience and knowledge, who volunteer their time and expertise to guide our organization. Elections will be held at the upcoming Annual General Meeting (AGM) in September 2025.

Rise is committed to working within an anti-racism and anti-oppression framework; as such, preference will be given to candidates that will strengthen our Board's diversity, values, depth, and competencies. Individuals from varied professional and lived experiences backgrounds that bring passion, commitment, and interest in serving on a Governance Board in the not-for-profit sector are encouraged to apply.
